AT&T and NEC jointly implement company-wide VoIP Solution for OMRON Corporation

22nd April, 2005 --- AT&T and NEC Corporation (NEC) announced today that the two companies have jointly implemented a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution at OMRON Corporation (OMRON) in Japan. By establishing this VoIP network, OMRON expects to reduce costs by approximately half a million US$ annually.

The migration to VoIP began in November 2004, and after voice-switching testing and other preparations, over 10,000 telephones nationwide were switched in just two days.

In this project, AT&T was responsible for project management, network design, equipment/line selection, test and operational support. NEC installed VoIP equipment, including SIP server·UNIVERGE SV7000· and VoIP gateways at all locations.

AT&T works with OMRON on a global level, and has implemented an AT&T IP-VPN solution at 53 business locations in 19 European countries, 15 business locations in 9 countries in the Asia Pacific region, and has also been extended to the U.S. The network provides the foundation for the company’s global, seamless business operations.
