Tokyo and London , February 8, 2005- NEC
Corporation (NEC) will exhibit its 2005 2.5G (WAP) product roadmap
at this year’s 3GSM World Congress in Cannes : the e540, e242, e101
and e121.
The range of handsets demonstrates NEC's continued commitment to
the European market through its development of stylish, user
friendly, GPRS camera phones featuring the latest in advanced 2.5G
mobile technologies and features.
The clamshell, 1.3 megapixel NEC e540 has an integrated MPEG4 video
camera and features BluetoothTM connectivity. The e540 also boasts
PictBridge connectivity which allows users to print out their
photos directly using a PictBridge compatible printer. The main 1.9
inch, 176x220 pixel, 65,536 colour TFT screen and second external 1
inch, 128x128 pixel, 4,096 colour screen means that videos and
photographs are displayed to full effect. The addition of an
in-built MP3 player allows users to listen to their favourite music
on the move and the handset also features 64-channel polyphonic
ringtones.
The NEC e242 is a clamshell design with an integrated MPEG4 video
camera, incorporating a nightlight for use in any conditions,
allowing users to shoot and send video clips. A video phonebook
enables incoming calls to be personalised with a video clip of the
caller. The digital 4x zoom VGA camera captures high-resolution
still images that can be shared via MMS. The e242 features a main
1.9 inch, 176x220 pixel, 65,536 colour screen, second external
4,096 colour screen and in-built MP3 player.
The clamshell NEC e101 is a compact, stylish handset, weighing just
85 grams and has USB connectivity. Featuring an integrated VGA 300K
pixel camera, its 1.8 inch, 128x160 pixels, 65,536 colour display
offers good picture resolution. A second external 1 inch, 96x64
pixels, mono screen shows caller-ID, so even if the handset is set
to a discrete mode for meetings the user can still see who is
calling.
The NEC e121 is a bar design, with a 128x160 pixels, 65,536 colour
screen, VGA camera and 40-channel polyphonic ringtones.
The e101, e242, e540 and e121 handsets are triband and all support
JAVA™ technology allowing consumers to download the latest games
and applications and feature USB connectivity. The handsets are
SMS, EMS and MMS enabled. Photographs and videos taken with the
integrated cameras can be passed onto friends and family anytime,
anywhere, with the addition of text and sounds as required, via
MMS.
